CHARLOTTE - Just days after being named as the MACCC All-Academic Football Team of the Year, Northwest has also earned recognition from the NJCAA as the nation's All-Academic Football Team of the Year for the 2023-24 school year.

Northwest finished with a 3.13 cumulative GPA, reclaiming the All-Academic Team of the Year award for football, after previously earning the title for the 2021-22 school year. The Rangers were one of only two NJCAA football teams to finish with a 3.0 GPA, something Northwest has continuously achieved over the past six seasons.

Although no other Northwest team took home All-Academic Team of the Year awards, several more Ranger teams finished the school year with 3.0 GPAs or higher. After earning MACCC All-Academic Team of the Year honors earlier this week, the Northwest baseball team finished third in the nation with a 3.73 GPA, while the Lady Rangers' soccer program earned a 3.69 team GPA and finished eighth among fellow NJCAA programs.

Other Northwest teams that finished with 3.0 GPAs or higher include softball (3.65), men's tennis (3.61), volleyball (3.57), women's tennis (3.57), men's soccer (3.25) and women's basketball (3.05).

Additionally, 92 Northwest student-athletes received individual All-Academic honors from the NJCAA, with 21 earning NJCAA All-Academic First Team nods. To be eligible, student-athletes had to achieve an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2023-24 academic year.

The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:

• NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
• NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
• NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
