CHARLOTTE - Fresh off earning the program's first-ever NJCAA Division II National Championship, three members of the Northwest women's soccer program have garnered First Team All-American honors, the National Junior College Athletic Association announced on Tuesday.
Sophomore goalkeeperÂ
Anna Kathryn Harrell, sophomore defenderÂ
Raegan Tucker and freshman midfielderÂ
Emma Jensen were selected for First Team NJCAA All-American accolades. The trio also earned First Team All-MACCC honors last month and were recently awarded All-NJCAA Region 23 recognition as well.
This is the first time that Northwest has landed three NJCAA All-American selections in one season, breaking the previous single-season record of two, set just last year with Harrell and former defender
Raylin Dixon earning the prestigious honors. Prior to 2023, the Lady Rangers had only one NJCAA All-American selection in program history - Jennifer Enriquez (2022).
(*NOTE: Total does not include NJCAA All-Academic selections.)
Harrell becomes the program's first two-time NJCAA All-American selection, after earning first team honors during her freshman season. The Tupelo native spent two seasons as the Lady Rangers' starting goalkeeper, recording 70 saves as a sophomore, with only nine goals allowed and an .886 save percentage.
Harrell was named MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week four times during the 2024 season and 10 times over the span of her Northwest career. She leaves Northwest with 141 career saves, ranking fourth all-time, while allowing just 15 goals. Harrell also holds career records for wins (38) and shutouts (29), and she also holds the top two single-season records for wins, recording 18 as a freshman and 16 this season.
Tasked with helping replace a veteran defense from last season, Tucker stepped up to the challenge. The sophomore from Madison was a pivotal part of a Northwest unit that allowed just 13 goals all season, and an average of 0.59 goals allowed per match. Tucker and the Lady Rangers' back line also held opponents to an average of 7.4 shots per match and just a combined 162 total shots all season. (By comparison, Northwest took a total of 555 shots on the year.)
Tucker also provided three assists on the season, spread across matches against Hinds, Itawamba and Copiah-Lincoln.
Jensen took the conference and nation by storm, tallying a team-leading 22 goals and 54 points on the season. The Gammelby, Germany native has already made her presence felt in the Northwest record books, currently sitting fourth in single-season points. Her 22 goals are third-most in a single season, while her 10 assists are tied for seventh-most in a single season, joining Jennifer Enriquez (2022).
Additionally, Jensen hit a team-leading 10 game-winners this year and successfully converted all three of her penalty kick attempts.
Northwest completed the 2024 season with an unblemished 22-0 record, earning MACCC, NJCAA Region 23 and NJCAA Division II titles. The Lady Rangers earned the program's first national title, while capturing the team's second-ever NJCAA Region 23 championship and the program's first outright MACCC crown.
