SENATOBIA - With conference standings beginning to heat up, college football becomes more scattered than ever entering Week 8.
Between Tuesday and Saturday, at least one college football game will be featured on national television. This week's slate kicks off on Tuesday evening, as
Hayden Dozier and South Alabama will play host to Troy on ESPN2. Later in the week,
Melvin Collins, Jr. and Western Kentucky will host Sam Houston State on Wednesday evening, also on ESPN2, while Sam Brumfield and Virginia Tech hosts Boston College on Thursday evening on ESPN.
Some matchups will pit former Northwest teammates against each other. One of the most notable examples in on Saturday evening, when Memphis hosts North Texas on ESPNU. That matchup will feature standout North Texas receiver D.T. Sheffield against former Rangers and current Tigers
Cameron Pascal, Tanner Gillis and William Stewart.
In all, a total of 31 former Northwest football student-athletes will suit up for FBS and FCS programs to kick off the season. Additionally, one former Ranger baseball player has made the switch from the outfield to the gridiron, as Thomas Cheatham has made the 2024 roster for Mississippi State as a receiver.
