MEMPHIS - Former Northwest offensive lineman
Davion Carter was one of nine University of Memphis football student-athletes chosen as part of Phil Steele's Preseason All-AAC Team on Tuesday afternoon.
Carter was named to the American Athletic Conference's fourth team by
Phil Steele's College Football Preview, which is set to be released at Barnes & Noble stores nationwide by July 4. Steele has published the annual college football preview every year since 1995.
A native of Pearl, Carter appeared in 12 games last season for the Tigers, earning 11 starts. He was part of an offensive front that ranked 21st nationally in passing offense and 22nd in scoring offense.
Carter and his offensive line helped Memphis to a 7-6 overall record and a 38-10 win against Utah State in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl.
Prior to Memphis, Carter spent two seasons on the Northwest offensive front, helping the Rangers to back-to-back MACCC championships and the 2021 NJCAA Division I Football Playoffs. He is one of 50 Northwest alums to join four-year programs since 2020 and one of 148 players to move on to the four-year level sinceÂ
