GOODMAN - A failed attempt for the final out of the sixth inning paved the way for two Holmes runs to score, as the host Bulldogs spoiled a potential sweep for Northwest on Wednesday afternoon.
Hammer Franks guided the Rangers in the Game 1 victory, tossing four strikeouts over four innings in a 12-4 run-rule win.
Peyton Puckett,
Peyton Mills and
Dylan Hale also aided Northwest with one home run apiece.
Jake Savage was handed the tough loss in Game 2 in a relief effort. The Rangers were held to five hits in the 3-2 loss, led by two apiece from
Kelton Hall and a home run from
Wesley Lester.
Northwest dropped to 15-11 on the season with the loss and 9-7 in MACCC competition. Holmes improved to 5-15 and 3-11 in conference play.
