JACKSON - Due to their efforts in helping the Northwest women's soccer program to its best season all-time and a weekly spot in the NJCAA Division II national rankings, four Lady Rangers have been chosen for All-MACCC honors.
Sophomore defender
Molly Rose, freshman forward
Jennifer Enriquez and midfielder
Melinda Hernandez were selected as First Team All-MACCC honorees, while sophomore forward
MJ Loeffel garnered second team recognition.
An athletic defender and scorer during her two seasons at Northwest, Rose has nine goals and nine assists on the season as the Lady Rangers' fourth-leading scorer. For her career, the Memphis native has 15 goals and 13 assists, ranking just outside the program's top 10 career records in goals scored while ranking fifth all-time in assists.
This is Rose's second all-conference nod, after earning first team recognition last season.
In just one season at Northwest, Enriquez has already taken the conference by storm, shattering the Lady Rangers' single-season and career assists record in the same year. The Las Cruces, N.M. product has tallied a team-high 20 assists, while also adding 12 goals to rank third in scoring and 10th in the single-season records for goals scored.
Additionally, Enriquez ranks third in the nation in assists, trailing only national leader Amaris Gonzalez (South Suburban; 29) and Muskegon's Kendall Jones (22).
Hernandez has quietly made a name for herself as well during her freshman campaign. Hailing from Bryant, Ark., Hernandez has five goals and eight assists, while playing a prominent role in setting up some of the Lady Rangers' biggest plays of the season.
For the second consecutive year, Loeffel was named Second Team All-MACCC as the Lady Rangers' leading scorer this season. The Eads, Tenn. native and Briarcrest Christian School product lifted her scoring total from four goals last spring to 19 goals this season, tied for fourth in the program's single-season record books. She has six career assists, three coming last season and three more this year.
Loeffel's 19 goals lead the MACCC, while her 23 career goals rank seventh all-time in the Northwest record books.
Northwest (15-2-1) has posted its best season in program history under second-year head coach
James Beattie. The Lady Rangers will face No. 2 Jones College on Saturday for an MACCC Semfinal matchup in Ridgeland, with the winner advancing to the MACCC Championship match against Holmes or Pearl River.
