JACKSON – Sophomore midfielder Stephanie Sommer made it official Tuesday on where she'll continue her soccer career, committing to play for head coach Josue Sabillon at Belhaven University this fall.

"I'm very happy for Stephanie to be continuing her education and soccer career at Belhaven," Northwest head coach Levi Nunnally said. "Stephanie has been a hard worker these past two years and has improved a lot along the way. I know she'll continue to work hard for her teammates and for coach Sabillon and I'm looking forward to following her soccer career these next two years."

Sommer played in 25 career games (nine starts) at Northwest, scoring her lone goal at Meridian last season and picking up an assist her freshman season. She had a .500 shot-on-goal percentage in two seasons.

The Belhaven women's soccer team recently completed its second season in NCAA Division III competition and in the American Southwest Conference (ASC).
