BOONEVILLE – Northwest freshman kicker/punter Drake McCarter has been named the MACJC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the Rangers' 21-14 semifinal playoff win at East Central.

The weekly conference award is McCarter's fourth this season, also being named the NJCAA Special Teams Player of the Week back in late September.

McCarter made good on all three of his field goal attempts from 35, 28 and 42 yards, all three coming in the fourth quarter of a two touchdown comeback victory. He also averaged 41.7 yards on three punts with two inside the 20 and a long of 52.

The Saltillo native is now 14-for-24 on the season in field goals and 34-for-38 in point after attempts for a team-leading 76 points. He's also averaging 38.5 yards per punt on 53 punts with 22 inside the 20-yard line and six of 50-plus yards.

McCarter and Northwest (9-1) travel to East Mississippi (9-1) on Saturday, Nov. 12 for the MACJC Championship.
