JACKSON – First-year head men's soccer coach Charlie Baldwin and the Rangers have been awarded the 2013 Tom Shepherd Sportsmanship Award.

The award is presented annually by the MACJC to a men's and women's program with the least amount of cards during the season.

Northwest is now a four-time winner of the award, also receiving it in 2007, 2008 and 2011 when Baldwin was an assistant coach under Peter Jarjoura.

"This is one of our three goals that we set every year," Baldwin said. "We're very proud to win it and hope to win it every year. It means a great deal to our program."

Northwest finished the season 7-4-2 as the north division runner-up and qualified for the MACJC Playoffs.
