Charlie Baldwin

Charlie Baldwin was promoted to head men’s soccer coach in June 2013 and begins his sixth season in that role with the Rangers in 2018.

Prior to being named the head men’s coach, Baldwin spent the 2006-12 seasons as an assistant coach at Northwest for both programs. He shared recruiting and coaching responsibilities with former head coach Peter Jarjoura.

Northwest has clinched postseason berths in three of the past five seasons under Baldwin, but is coming off a 2-8-2 mark in 2017. The Rangers enjoyed a breakout season in 2015 by tying a school record with 12 wins and posting six shutouts to advance to the MACJC semifinals for the first time since 2009.

Baldwin has led Northwest to a combined 34-35-6 overall record in five seasons coaching men only and 16-21-3 record in division play.

In his first season at the helm in 2013, Baldwin led the Ranger men to an overall mark of 7-4-2 and runner-up finish in the MACJC North Division at 4-3-1. The Rangers made their first postseason appearance since 2009, falling in the first round of the state tournament to Jones County.

Baldwin helped the Rangers to back-to-back 7-win seasons as an assistant and north division runner-up finishes in 2008-09, while guiding the women to four third place finishes.

The Lady Rangers earned their first MACJC north division championship in 2006, posting a record of 14-5 and finishing the season as runners- up for the state and region titles. During that same year, the men’s team placed third in the north division.

Prior to Northwest, Baldwin served as head soccer coach at DeSoto Central, leading the boys’ soccer program in 2005 and 2006 and the girls’ squad in 2003 and 2004. He would lead DeSoto Central to three Chickasaw Conference Championships during his stay. Baldwin was also the girls’ head soccer coach at Southaven High School from 1998-2001.

Before coaching at the high school level, Baldwin coached the Germantown Fury for four seasons and the Memphis Futbol Club for nine, and was also a training coach for the Mississippi Olympic Development Program.

Baldwin, who has nearly 30 years of coaching experience under his belt, holds an NSCAA National Diploma and USF National “C” License.

Baldwin is married to the former Mary Barkley of Southaven, and the two have a son, the late Charlie Baldwin Jr., and a daughter, Christy.
