Roberts' Four Goals Lead Jones County Past Northwest, 6-1

ELLISVILLE – The homestanding Jones County Lady Bobcats used four goals from freshman Danica Roberts, including three in the second half, to pull away late for a 6-1 win and sweep the season series with Northwest.

Jones County improved to 8-3 on the year, while Northwest dropped to 2-6-1.

Goals by Roberts and Morgan Pace less than 10 minutes into the second half opened what was just a one-goal lead to 3-0, with freshman Samantha Beard getting Northwest on the board in the 59th minute with her fourth goal of the season.

Roberts completed her hat-trick in the 79th minute off a Morgan Pace assist and added another in the 84th minute on a Macey Endris assist to stretch the Jones County lead to 5-1. Leslie Masters then scored off an assist by Haley Crosby just as time expired to cap the scoring.

Kristen Pittman and Aundrea Borchardt split time in net for Jones and combined for two saves, while the reigning NJCAA Division I Goalkeeper of the Week Kelli Brewer stopped 10 shots and allowed all six goals.

In addition to Roberts' four goals for Jones, Endris was credited with three assists.

Northwest will look to bounce back Saturday, traveling to Southwest for a 2 p.m. kickoff in Summit.
