SENATOBIA - The Northwest Mississippi Community College women's soccer team (6-0) recorded their fourth game with five or more goals in a 8-0 victory over the Copiah-Lincoln Community College women's soccer team (2-0-3) Tuesday night at the Ranger Soccer Complex.
"We obviously want to open up the conference on a positive note," Head Coach James Beattie said. "We started fast which we asked the girls to do."
The Rangers once again got off to a quick start with a Rylee Ringold goal in the second minute off of a Yazzlyn Alex cross.
NWCC dominated in possession for the majority of the first half and netted three additional goals in the frame.
The second goal of the game came after Olivia Miller slotted home Kassidy McMillan's cross in the ninth minute.
Northwest was able to extend the lead to three goals after Hayden Moneymaker was able to finish Alex's pass from around 18 yards out.
Moneymaker was able to net her second goal of the game and the fourth goal of the first half when she rocketed a shot into the net unassisted in the 40th minute.
The Rangers' offensive momentum did not slow down in the second half with Alex scoring two goals in around 10 minutes. Alex's first goal came when she tapped in a McMillan assist from about six yards out in the 50th minute.
Less than five minutes later, in the 56th minute, Alex once again put the ball in the back of the net from around six yards out.
Wrapping up a phenomenal offensive performance, Alex completed her first career hat-trick with a header off of a McKenzi Rankins cross in the 76th minute.
"I feel like us pushing the ball forward, just pushing the pace, and working with each other really helped. I'm more of an attacker, and I love to push pace," Alex said.
The eighth, and final goal, came when substitute Mary Logan Clark successfully finished Maggie Pace's cross in the 80th minute.
The Rangers are not only a force offensively, but they are a force defensively as well.
The 8-0 victory resulted in NWCC's fourth straight clean sheet and fifth clean sheet in just six games. Northwest simply did not allow the Wolves to gain any sort of offensive momentum and only allowed two shots all game.
The schedule does not slow down for the Rangers with conference play continuing to ramp up, and the team will look to continue their momentum into the toughest part of the season.
"In every training session, every game, we can't lay up," Beattie said. "We've got to attack it like we are playing in a conference final or a national final so we're in the best case scenario."
On Friday, September 18, the Rangers (6-0) will travel to Summit to take on the Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears (5-1) at 5 p.m. at the Southwest Soccer Field.
