SENATOBIA – The 2025-26 school year has arrived, and Northwest Mississippi Community College will celebrate the start of the 2025 fall sports season with its annual "Meet the Rangers" event. The event is free and open to the public and will take place at Ranger Stadium on Monday, August 25, at 7:00 P.M.*
Northwest will recognize members of the rodeo, volleyball, football, men's and women's soccer teams, cheerleaders, dance team and the largest Ranger Marching Band in history.
Fans will be treated to previews of the band's halftime show, including performances by Northwest Dance and Northwest Cheer. The 223-member Ranger Band, under the direction of Drums Majors Makenzi Duffie of Lewisburg High School, Thomas Butler of Cleveland Central High School, and Aubrey Burk of Strayhorn High School. The band will perform snippets from their 2025 halftime show, featuring the following music: "Dream On", by Aerosmith; "Levitating", by Dua Lipa, featuring DaBaby; "Treasure", by Bruno Mars; "Master of Puppets", by Metallica; "Victorious" by Panic! at the Disco; and "Everybody" by the Backstreet Boys.
Northwest volleyball recently completed the exhibition portion of the schedule and swings into action at the Mississippi/Alabama Crossover Tournament in Fulton from Friday, August 22 - Saturday, August 23. The first home matches for the ladies will take place on Monday, August 25 when they host a tri-match with Chattanooga State (Tenn.) and Shawnee (Ill.). Action for that day kicks off at 1:00 P.M. at Howard Coliseum on the Senatobia campus.
Northwest men's soccer has a couple of exhibition matches under their belt and will also begin the regular season on Friday in Fulton with a neutral-site match against Northeast Alabama. The squad's first home match of the regular season will be Tuesday, September 9, when they host the Belhaven Blazers for a 5:30 P.M. kickoff from the Ranger Soccer Complex.
The Ranger women's soccer squad, fresh off of four exhibition friendlies with NCAA competition, will kick off their regular season on the road in Westfield, Indiana, August 23 - 24. There, the ladies will take on a pair of perennial powers in St. Louis and Neosho County at the 2025 JUCO Kickoff Classic. Their next home event will be a final exhibition tuneup against Christian Brothers at the Ranger Soccer Complex on August 28 at 7:00 P.M.
Ranger Rodeo will hit the dirt at Missouri Valley College to start the NIRA Ozark Region fall schedule on September 18-20.
Northwest football opens the 2025 season on the road in Poplarville, where they will take on Pearl River. That game is scheduled for a 7:00 P.M. kickoff on Thursday, August 28. The first home game of the 2025 season will be the following week, September 4, when the Rangers host East Central at Bobby Franklin Field. That game is also scheduled for a 7:00 P.M. kickoff.
