SENATOBIA - The MACCC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award for October 7th went to
Ariana Woods of the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers.
Woods was one of the top defenders at the net for the Rangers and for the conference over the past week, picking up 18 total blocks, including three solo blocks. She also had three or more blocks in three of the eight matches over the week including a four block game against then #20 Lurleen B. Wallace Community College on the way to a sweep of the Saints.
Woods also tallied eleven digs for the Rangers and had three service aces for Northwest.
On the season, Woods is the top blocker on the team with 51 on the season including 12 solo blocks, which is also the best number on the team. She has also registered more digs than the other two starting middles on the team combined and is eighth on the roster in service aces.
In terms of the conference numbers, Woods is sitting in fourth in the conference in total blocks and is tied for fourth in solo blocks this season.
