SENATOBIA – It's a week full of former Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers going head to head on the gridiron as week ten of the college football season is upon us!
The SWAC is full of those head to head battles on Saturday. Prairie View A&M will host Alabama State at 2:00 pm where Dylan Spencer (OL), Cameron Pascal (OL), and Derick Harden (TE/OL) will be reunited, and over in Texas, Thurman Rayborn (DL) and Elijah Ruffin (DB) will be on the same field when Texas Southern plays host to Alcorn State, also at 2:00 pm.
Just across the state line from Mississippi, Central Arkansas and the trio of Cam Young (RB), Rontavious "Dude" Person (DB),and Jacorey Jones (LB) will play host to Kylan Robinson (LB) and Eastern Kentucky at 4:00 pm. Also in Arkansas, the Razorbacks will be playing host to Mississippi State where Jakheem Shumpert-Perkins (OL) and Jykeveous "Red" Hibbler (DL) will be facing off with Keshawn Davila (DB) at 3:00 pm.
As is usual this time of year, almost every night there is a game and many of those feature someone who has worn the red, white, and blue of Northwest in their career.
Tuesday night saw Kennesaw State continue their run of success with Rod Daniels (DL) helping them to a 33-20 win over UTEP. Thursday night pitted Coastal Carolina and the trio of D'Mariun Perteet (RB), Fredd Adams (DB), and Josh Humes (TE) against Marshall on the way to a __ to __ win.
Friday night, the #25 Memphis Tigers will tangle with the Rice Owls in a 6:00 pm road test with Rayyan Buell (DL), Sam Brumfield (LB), and Tanner Gillis (P/K) looking to keep their playoff hopes alive, and then a full slate of Saturday games along with the above mentioned contests is also on the way.
In all, a total of 44 former Northwest football student-athletes will suit up for FBS and FCS programs this weekend.
