SENATOBIA - In preparation for the UCA/UDA College Nationals competitions later this month, the Northwest cheer and dance teams will host a showcase on Tuesday, January 14 at Howard Coliseum.
The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 P.M., with tickets available for purchase online at
nwccrangers.com/tickets. Free admission is available to children five and under.
The showcase serves as a sneak peek of the Northwest cheer and dance squad's respective routines that they will perform at the UCA/UDA College Nationals, which is scheduled for January 17-19 at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. Additionally, local high school squads will also be featured, along with the cheer and dance squads from Ole Miss and the University of Memphis.
Last year, both Northwest cheer and dance brought home national titles. Competing in nationals for just the second time ever, coach
Patrice Christian's Northwest dance team took home the gold medal in the Open Hip-Hop Finals, marking the program's first-ever national championship. Meanwhile, coach
Brandon Casey's all-girl cheer team took home the gold medal in the open finals.
Additionally, the Northwest dance team also took home a bronze medal in the Open Game Day division.
Since beginning competition in the 2020-21 season, the Northwest cheer program has captured four national titles, including two championships in the Open Co-Ed Game Day and Open Small Co-Ed divisions in 2021, before later capturing the Open Small Co-Ed national championship in January 2022.
