Box Score ELLISVILLE - Scoring came early and often for ninth-ranked Jones College on Tuesday evening, as Northwest dropped a 6-0 decision to the Bobcats.
Matt Reed provided the first goal in the seventh minute, thanks to an assist from Xabier Souto-Rodriguez. In the 20th minute, Souto-Rodriguez scored a goal of his own, pushing the lead to 2-0.
In all, the Bobcats notched five of their six goals in the first half. Their final goal came in the 54th minute, an unassisted shot from Landen Linares.
Jones College outshot Northwest, 35-6, while outmatching Northwest 17-1 in shots on-goal.
Jacob Little tallied 11 saves for the Rangers, including seven in the first half.
Both teams combined for 16 fouls, with nine whistled against Northwest.
Miller Thorsen was issued a caution in the 21st minute, while Eskil Instebo was issued a yellow card in the 54th minute.
With the loss, the Rangers fell to 1-4-2 on the season and 0-1 in MACCC play. Meanwhile, Jones College moved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 against conference competition.
Next up for Northwest will be a road test at East Central on Friday, September 20 at 7 P.M. The Warriors (0-5, 0-1 MACCC) are coming off a 4-1 loss to Mississippi Gulf Coast.
