Box Score RIDGELAND - Ben Marchetta's early second half goal was one of the few highlights for Northwest in Thursday afternoon's 4-1 loss to Copiah-Lincoln.
Marchetta, a native of Cleveland, Miss., tallied his first score of the season in the loss, which dropped the Rangers to 0-2 on the season. Sophomore
Soren Voges-Haupt provided the assist on the goal.
Copiah-Lincoln scored its first goal within minutes of opening the match and led 2-0 at the halftime break. After Northwest closed the gap to 2-1, the Wolves scored again just minutes later, cutting off the Rangers' momentum. Co-Lin later added its final goal, further expanding the deficit.
Northwest will aim to regroup on Monday, September 2, when Northeast (Neb.) makes a stop in Senatobia for a 12 P.M. kick. The Hawks entered the season with a No. 3 national ranking.
