JACKSON - Following a historical championship season for the Northwest women's soccer program, three Lady Rangers have earned NJCAA All-Region 23 recognition.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Anna Kathryn Harrell, sophomore defender
Raegan Tucker and freshman midfielder
Emma Jensen were all selected for All-Region accolades. The trio also earned First Team All-MACCC honors last month.
In two seasons as the starting goalkeeper at Northwest, Harrell racked up numerous awards and accolades from the conference, NJCAA and United Soccer Coaches organization. An NJCAA All-American following her freshman campaign, the Tupelo native has amassed 141 career saves against just 15 goals allowed, ranking fourth in the program's career saves category. Harrell also holds career records for wins (38) and shutouts (29), and she also holds the top two single-season records for wins, recording 18 as a freshman and 16 this season.
For her sophomore campaign, Harrell recorded 70 saves against nine goals allowed, good for an .886 save percentage. She was named MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week four times this season and 10 times over the span of her Northwest career.
Tasked with helping replace a veteran defense from last season, Tucker stepped up to the challenge. The sophomore from Madison has been a pivotal part of a Northwest unit that has allowed just 13 goals all season, and an average of 0.59 goals allowed per match. Tucker and the Lady Rangers' back line also held opponents to an average of 7.4 shots per match and just a combined 162 total shots all season. (By comparison, Northwest took a total of 555 shots on the year.)
Tucker also provided three assists on the season, spread across matches against Hinds, Itawamba and Copiah-Lincoln.
Jensen took the conference and nation by storm, tallying a team-leading 22 goals and 54 points on the season. The Gammelby, Germany native has already made her presence felt in the Northwest record books, currently sitting fourth in single-season points. Her 22 goals are third-most in a single season, while her 10 assists are tied for seventh-most in a single season, joining Jennifer Enriquez (2022).
Additionally, Jensen hit a team-leading 10 game-winners this year and successfully converted all three of her penalty kick attempts.
Northwest completed the 2024 season with an unblemished 22-0 record, earning MACCC, NJCAA Region 23 and NJCAA Division II titles. The Lady Rangers earned the program's first national title, while capturing the team's second-ever NJCAA Region 23 championship and the program's first outright MACCC crown.
