Four Rangers Selected for NJCAA All-American Honors

Three earned First Team accolades

CHARLOTTE - After a successful season that spawned division and conference championships, along with an appearance in the NJCAA Division I Football Playoffs, Northwest has seen four of its players chosen for NJCAA Division I All-American accolades.

Sophomore running back D'mariun Perteet, sophomore offensive lineman LaParka Langston and sophomore defensive back Fredd Adams finished as first team honorees, while sophomore defensive lineman D.J. Burgess earned Honorable Mention recognition. Burgess is the only repeat NJCAA All-American selection, after also garnering Honorable Mention recognition as a freshman.

A native of Courtland, Miss., Perteet received MACCC North Division Player of the Year last month, while also earning First Team All-MACCC North Division honors. The recent Coastal Carolina signee finished the season with 1,360 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on 257 attempts, the program's new single-season record. His 16 scores also are tied for fifth-most in a single season and are the most in a season since Jaquerrious Williams' 17 touchdowns in 2021.

While Perteet currently ranks second nationally in rushing yards per game (113.4) and third in rushing touchdowns, he led the MACCC in both categories. He also finished with 100 or more rushing yards in eight games this season, including a career-high 189 yards against Holmes.

Langston helped anchor a Northwest offensive front that paved the way for over 2,000 yards in both rushing and receiving categories. The Jonesboro, Ga. native has caught the eyes of numerous FBS and FCS programs, recently choosing to commit to UCF.

Defense was also a strong suit for the Rangers this season, and defensive back Fredd Adams helped lead the way in the secondary. A native of Tupelo, Adams finished the season with eight interceptions, including four in an early-season victory against East Mississippi and one in the NJCAA Semifinals at Iowa Western. He also led the team with 13 pass breakups and finished with 178 interception yards, the third-most in a single season and the most by any Northwest player since Malikia Griffin's 190 interception yards in 1995.

Recently, Adams signed with Coastal Carolina to continue his athletic and academic career.

Now labeled as a two-time NJCAA All-American, Burgess finished seventh on the team in total tackles (35), but second in sacks (4.5) and tied for fourth in tackles-for-loss (6.5). The Oxford native and son of NFL veteran Derrick Burgess also ranked second on the team with seven quarterback hurries.

Burgess has received various offers from FBS and FCS programs, but has yet to sign or commit.

Northwest has now produced 129 all-Americans throughout the program's history, including 23 since 2016, when Benjy Parker began his tenure as the Rangers' head coach. The Rangers finished with a 10-2 overall record in 2024, the second 10-win campaign in the last three years.
