CHARLOTTE - Roughly 24 hours after earning MACCC Offensive Player of the Week and on the same day as being chosen as MACCC North Division Offensive Player of the Year, Northwest sophomore tailback has garnered yet another accolade.
Perteet, a native of Courtland, was selected as NJCAA Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday afternoon, marking his first career national POTW award.Â
In the Rangers' 34-7 victory at No. 7 East Central in last weekend's MACCC Championship, Perteet recorded his eighth 100-yard rushing effort of the season, collecting 129 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. His two scores were the only offensive touchdowns of the day for Northwest.
Perteet has emerged as one of the top running backs in the NJCAAÂ this season, currently ranking second for yards per game (112.9) and third in rushing touchdowns (16). For the season, he has 1,241 rushing yards on 241 carries, moving him to the second-most rushing attempts in a single season. His 16 touchdowns are tied for fifth-most in the Rangers' single-season record books.
For his career, Perteet has logged 1,872 yards on 340 rushing attempts. Though he has yet to crack the top five in the career records for both statistics, his 22 career touchdowns are tied for fourth all-time with Ricky Blake (1987), Rontae Bass (1991-92) and Jamarien Bracey (2021-22).
Northwest (10-1) remained No. 4 in Monday's NJCAA rankings, as the Rangers await official word on their destination for the NJCAA Division I Football Playoffs. This marks the third time in the last four seasons that Northwest has made the national playoffs, more than any other MACCC program since the national playoffs were established in 2021.
