Emma Jensen Chosen as MACCC Women's Soccer Player of the Year

JACKSON - Northwest freshman midfielder Emma Jensen has been chosen as the MACCC Women's Soccer Player of the Year, the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference announced recently.

Jensen, a First Team All-MACCC and NJCAA All-Region 23 selection, led the Lady Rangers with 22 goals and finished second on the team with 10 assists. The Gammelby, Germany native tallied three goals during the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament last month, including two against Holmes in the tournament title match.

During the Lady Rangers' national tournament run, Jensen scored a goal in three of the four matches. Her lone scoreless match was against Holmes in the NJCAA Semifinals resulted in an assist, aiding Northwest to a victory.

For the season, Jensen collected a team-high 54 points, the third-highest by any Northwest player in a single season. Her point total trailed only Elyse Lovelace's record 77 points from 2006 and Jessica Yelvington's 65 points from the 2004 campaign.

Jensen also found her way into various other single-season record categories, including second in goals per match (1.00), third in goals scored (22) and tied for seventh in assists. She joined Miranda "M.J." Loeffel (2021) in a tie for 1.00 goals per match and Jennifer Enriquez (2022) in single-season assists.

Among national leaders, Jensen finished in a tie for 11th for goals scored, joining Ronniellia Bubb of Iowa Lakes and Kristen Phillips of Holmes. She also ranked 10th nationally in points, joining Carmen Coronado of Phoenix College.

Jensen is the first Northwest women's soccer student-athlete to garner MACCC Player of the Year accolades.
