Northwest to Host Cheer and Dance Showcase

Event set for Saturday, January 6

SENATOBIA - With national competitions looming, the Northwest cheer and dance teams are continuing their preparations for the upcoming UCA/UDA College Nationals later this month.

Once again, fans can get a peek at the competition routines for the Northwest cheer and dance teams, as coaches Brandon Casey and Patrice Christian will host a public showcase on Saturday, January 6 at 4:30 P.M. For the first time, the event will be held at the Heindl Center for the Performing Arts on the Senatobia campus.

In addition to Northwest, the showcase will also welcome local high school programs, as well as the University of Mississippi cheer and dance teams.

Tickets are $10 apiece, with free admission for children ages three and under. Fans can purchase tickets online by clicking here.

Since returning to competitive status for the 2020-21 season, the Northwest cheer team has racked up the medals at the UCA College Nationals. Coach Casey's squad won the Open Small Co-Ed National Title in 2021 and 2022, while earning the Open Co-Ed Gameday National Championship in 2021. Last season, the Rangers placed second in the Open Cheer Co-Ed Gameday and third in the Open Small Co-Ed competition.

Meanwhile, last year marked the Northwest dance team's first foray into national competition, as Christian's team placed second nationally in the Open Hip-Hop category.

This year's UCA/UDA College Nationals is scheduled for January 12-14 at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando.
