JACKSON - For the second consecutive week, Northwest has had a women's soccer player chosen for conference Player of the Week accolades.
This time, the MACCC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors went to sophomore forward
Jadyn Duran, who broke out in a big way during a 2-0 stretch for the Lady Rangers in wins against National Park College and the conference opener at Meridian.Â
Duran, a pivotal piece of the Lady Rangers' national tournament team last season, had been held scoreless all season until last Tuesday's 13-0 win against National Park College. In that match, the Las Cruces, N.M. native scored four goals and an assist, notching her first career hat trick.
However, Duran's impressive week didn't end there. In a 10-0 victory at Meridian last Friday, she added two more goals and a pair of assists to help Northwest to its largest margin of victory in a conference match since 2006.
Last week, Northwest forward
Mari Julia Delgado was chosen for MACCC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Lady Rangers' goalkeeper
Anna Kathryn Harrell nabbed MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week honors, as well as national accolades from the NJCAA.
Northwest (8-0, 1-0 MACCC) is currently ranked third in the nation. The Lady Rangers will travel to Itawamba on Tuesday and host Southwest Mississippi on Friday afternoon.
