SENATOBIA - Less than two months remain until the start of the 2023 women's soccer season and Northwest has announced its schedule for the upcoming season.
Several road and neutral-site matches dot the schedule this season, including a pair of trips to St. Louis. Following two road exhibitions at Arkansas State and Delta State, the Lady Rangers will formally open the 2023 slate in their first St. Louis trip against Jefferson College on Saturday, August 19 and South Suburban College on Sunday, Aug. 20.
Northwest will take other road trips until Sunday, September 10, when the Lady Rangers host Mineral Area College for their home-opener at 1 P.M. National Park College will pay a visit to Senatobia as well on Tuesday, Sept. 12, marking the end of the non-conference slate.
Following a pair of conference-opening road matches at Meridian and Itawamba, the Lady Rangers will host Southwest Mississippi on Friday, Sept. 22 at 1 P.M., followed by Mississippi Gulf Coast at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
October will begin with three straight home matches for Northwest, beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 3 against East Mississippi. The Lady Lions will make their return to soccer this season following the program's hiatus after the 2009 season.
Northwest is also slated to host perennial power Holmes on Friday, Oct. 6 at 1 P.M. The Lady Rangers and Lady Bulldogs have shared a tense history over the previous two seasons, as both programs finished in a draw twice last season, once in the regular season and again in the MACCC/Region 23 Championship. Holmes went on to advance in the championship match by winning the shootout.
Matches against East Central (Oct. 13) and Jones College (Oct. 20) will conclude the regular season home schedule, while the Lady Rangers will also face Hinds, Copiah-Lincoln and Pearl River on the road through MACCC play.
Northwest finished the 2022 campaign with its best season yet, earning a 15-2-3 overall mark and a 7-1-2 record against MACCC opponents. Coach
James Beattie's club also finished as the MACCC/Region 23 runners-up and advanced to the NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Championship tournament for the first time in program history, winning Pool D and advancing to the tournament semifinals.
Coverage links will be posted on the women's soccer schedule page over the coming weeks. All home matches are expected to be carried on
