SENATOBIA - Jones College combined for 23 runs on 22 base hits, as Northwest suffered a sweep at the hands of the eighth-ranked Bobcats on Saturday evening, falling by a pair of 11-3 and 12-6 finals.
Northwest trailed 4-1 entering the seventh inning of Game 1, before the Bobcats combined for seven more runs across the next two frames to pull away. In Game 2, the Rangers fell victim early to bad breaks and inconsistent strike zone, setting up an eight-run second inning for Jones College. The Rangers pulled back within 10-6 on
Dawson Griffin's grand slam in the bottom of the fourth, but the Bobcats added two more runs to kill the Northwest momentum.
Northwest dropped to 22-14 on the season with the losses, moving to 10-6 in the MACCC. No. 8 Jones College improved to 29-7 overall and 14-2 in the conference.
Next up for the Rangers is a Monday non-conference meeting against Jackson State (Tenn.), scheduled for a 3 P.M. start time. Northwest will then step back into conference play on Wednesday at Northeast, kicking off four straight road doubleheaders.
