MARTIN, Tenn. - Barrel racers
Darby Toole and
Kylie Key helped lift the Northwest women's rodeo team to a seventh-place finish over the weekend at the UT Martin Rodeo.
Toole tied for fifth with an overall score of 27.53, joining Addie Nichols of Central Methodist University. Meanwhile, Key placed seventh with a 32.36 score, as both athletes combined for 50 team points. The Northwest men's team did not place.
As a team, the Lady Rangers placed just behind Mississippi State, which finished sixth with 100 team points. Northwest also beat out Murray State, Arkansas-Monticello and Central Methodist in the top 10.Â
In the latest Ozark Region standings, the Northwest Lady Rangers sit at seventh overall with 275 points, while the Northwest men are 10th with 550 team points. Bull rider
Colby Burgess remains tied atop the standings with Arkansas-Monticello's Cole Skender, with both athletes holding 330 points for the season.
Luke Stanley is sixth overall with 185 points.
Other Rangers in the Ozark Region standings include tie-down roper
David Holt, who ranks eighth overall, and Toole, who ranks 14th in the barrel racing standings with 140 season points.
Northwest will have a week off to prepare for the regular season finale, the highly-anticipated Ranger Rodeo. The annual event will run April 27-29 at the Northwest Multipurpose Arena on Highway 4 West and tickets are currently available online by clicking
