Quentin Wilfawn Named Second Team All-Sun Belt

MOBILE, Ala. - Northwest alumnus and current South Alabama linebacker Quentin Wilfawn was named to the All-Sun Belt conference team at the conclusion of the regular season.

Wilfawn rebounded from injuries to lead the Jaguars in tackles this season, collecting 81 total tackles, 15 tackles-for-loss and 6.5 sacks. The Oxford native had one of the biggest defensive games in program history earlier this season, when he recorded 4.5 TFLs and a sack against Louisiana. That game also kicked off a three-week stretch where he made 36 tackles in three contests and produced six quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and a pass breakup.

Wifawn has spent four seasons at South Alabama, missing the majority of the 2022 campaign due to injury. In 2021, he played in 11 games, recording 45 total tackles, including a season-high of 11 against Arkansas State. During the COVID-19 affected 2020 season, Wilfawn tallied 12 tackles in seven games played.

Prior to South Alabama, Wilfawn spent the 2018-19 seasons at Northwest, helping the Rangers to a combined 16-5 record and back-to-back MACJC playoff appearances. During his sophomore campaign, he led Northwest with 70 total tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, three sacks and an interception. Wilfawn was also named First Team All-MACJC for the 2019 season.

Wilfawn and South Alabama finished with a 6-6 record this season, including a 4-4 mark in the Sun Belt. The Jaguars will close out the 2023 campaign in the 68 Ventures Bowl on Saturday, December 23 against Eastern Michigan, scheduled for a 6 P.M. kickoff on ESPN.
