SENATOBIA - It's no secret that Northwest collected its best season in program history, finishing 21-2 overall and earning another trip to the NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship tournament.
Now, head coach
James Beattie and his staff continue to garner recognition for the Lady Rangers' historic season. After being named the Region 23 Coach of the Year, Beattie has also been named the NJCAA Gulf South District Coach of the Year, and his staff have earned MACCC Coaching Staff of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Fresh off his fourth season in command, Beattie has added more milestones to the program's history books. Northwest was named co-MACCC champions after finishing in a three-way tie for first place at the end of the regular season, marking the Lady Rangers' first conference title. Less than two weeks later, Beattie's squad won the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament, marking the first-ever region championship.
Several Northwest players earned All-MACCCÂ recognition, while goalkeeper
Anna Kathryn Harrell and defender
Raylin Dixon earned both All-Region 23 and NJCAA All-American accolades. Additionally, Harrell was named to the NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-Tournament team and four more players -
Mia Kate Cade,
Avery Hooker,
Bre'Aunna Harps,
Madyson Helm - were chosen to compete in this Saturday's MACCC All-Star match.
Last season, Beattie's staff was recognized as the MACCC Coaching Staff of the Year and the Women's Junior College Division II Mid-South Region Staff of the Year, as named by the United Soccer Coaches organization.
More awards are expected in the coming weeks, as the United Soccer Coaches organization will soon release its list of all-Americans.
