Eight Lady Rangers Score All-MACCC Honors

JACKSON - Following a historic season that ended with a 21-2 overall record and the program's first NJCAA Region 23 championship, eight members of the Northwest women's soccer team received All-MACCC accolades, the conference announced on Wednesday morning.

Freshman goalkeeper Anna Kathryn Harrell and sophomore defender Raylin Dixon earned First Team All-MACCC recognition, while sophomore forward Evie Crawford and sophomore defender Amaya Andrews garnered second team honors. Five additional Lady Rangers earned Honorable Mention accolades, led by freshman forward Mari Julia Delgado and the midfielder trio of Kaley Harden, Yaritza Trejo and Emma Wilson.

Harrell made an impact right way during a stellar freshman campaign, shattering nearly every previous single-season and career record set by Northwest goalkeepers. The Tupelo native collected 19 wins on the season with 18 shutouts posted, including one in the national tournament against Rock Valley College. Harrell also recorded 71 saves on the season, while allowing only five goals.

Harrell also earned MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week honors an unprecedented six times throughout the season, while also being named NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week twice.

Dixon collected first team all-conference honors for the second consecutive season, as the Brandon native was once again the anchor of one of the best defensive units in the country. The Northwest back line allowed just five goals all season, one of the lowest totals in the NJCAA Division II ranks, while Dixon herself also added three assists on the season and the game-winning goal in the Lady Rangers' regular season finale at Pearl River.

Crawford, who also earned second team all-conference honors last season, capped off her Northwest career in spectacular fashion, earning several spots in the Northwest record books. The Tupelo native finishes her two-year stint with 17 assists and 25 goals, respectively ranking fourth and fifth in the career record totals. Crawford's 17 assists rank only behind former teammate and current record-holder Jennifer Enriquez (30; 2021-22) and 19 apiece from Gena Gutierrez (2004-05) and Ally Bailey (2019-21).

Additionally, Crawford also finishes her Northwest career with 67 points, tied for sixth all-time with Gutierrez. Thirty-nine of her points came this season, which ranks ninth in a single season, while her 11 assists rank fifth and her 14 goals have her tied for eighth in a single season, joining Delgado, Bailey (2021) and Lindsey Young (2003).

After receiving Honorable Mention all-conference honors last season, Andrews played another pivotal role on the Northwest defense this season, earning second-team recognition. The Olive Branch native joined Dixon and Bre'Aunna Harps in holding opponents to just five goals all season, two of which came in the Lady Rangers' national tournament loss to Johnson County (Kan.). Andrews and the Lady Rangers' defense posted 20 shutouts on the year, helping Harrell to wins in 19 of those contests, with Abby Tutor collecting the other two victories.

Despite earning Honorable Mention accolades, Delgado led Northwest in scoring with 14 goals and 14 assists, collecting a team-best 42 points. The Trinity, Ala. native is currently tied for eighth for goals in a single season, while also ranking fourth in assists and sixth in points. In the career stats, Delgado already ranks sixth in assists, tied with sophomore Jadyn Duran.

Harden, Trejo and Wilson also formed a tough, physical core in the midfield all season for Northwest. Harden, a sophomore from Carrollton, tacked on five assists this season and concludes her Lady Ranger career with three goals and five assists. Trejo, a freshman from Memphis, also added a goal and an assist, while Wilson (Starkville) provided two goals and three assists.

With the Lady Rangers' eight All-MACCC selections, this marks a new record total of all-conference honors for the program. The previous record of seven was set last season.

Northwest ended the 2023 campaign as co-MACCC champions and Region 23 champions, both marking the first titles of any kind in program history. The Lady Rangers also set single-season records for wins and goals scored, while coach James Beattie earned Region 23 Coach of the Year honors following the region title win against Pearl River.

All-Region 23 accolades will be released on Thursday morning.
