JACKSON - Another winning week for the No. 1 Northwest Lady Rangers resulted in another MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week award for
Anna Kathryn Harrell.
A freshman from Tupelo, Harrell collected the MACCC's weekly award for the third straight week and the fourth time this season, after posting yet another shutout in the Lady Rangers' 3-0 win against East Central last Friday. She picked up two saves and notched her 13th victory of the season, becoming the Lady Rangers' new single-season leader in wins for a goalkeeper.
Additionally, the win also marked Harrell's 12th shutout of the season, a new single-season program record. Currently, she is tied with previous record-holder Ashley Nelson (2014-15) for the career shutout record, which is 13.
Harrell has been a pivotal piece of the Northwest defense all season long, a unit that has only allowed one goal all season and none through conference play. As a team, the Lady Rangers have outscored their opponents by a whopping 98-1 margin.
Northwest (15-0, 8-0 MACCC) will face three nationally-ranked opponents to end the regular season, starting with Tuesday's road tilt at No. 17 Copiah-Lincoln. The Lady Rangers will then host No. 4 Jones College on Friday, October 20, before traveling to 13th-ranked Pearl River on Tuesday, October 24.
