Northwest women collect 80 points; men fail to place

MARSHALL, Mo. - Sophomore Riley Kate Lenagar picked up right where she left off last season for the Northwest women's rodeo team.

Lenagar, a native of Brighton, Tenn., finished fourth in barrel racing in last weekend's Viking Stampede at Missouri Valley College, lifting Northwest to 80 team points and a sixth place finish. The Northwest men did not place in the event.

A total of seven teams placed on the women's side, highlighted by West Alabama's first place result and Pearl River's runner-up finish. Missouri Valley College blew away the competition on the men's side with 865 team points, followed by UT Martin in second.

Northwest will continue the fall portion of its NIRA Ozark Region schedule this weekend at the University of West Alabama. The UWA-hosted event will begin on Thursday evening, September 29, and run through Saturday, October 1.
