SENATOBIA - After falling behind by three goals in the first half, Northwest allowed five more in the final 45 minutes in Friday's loss to No. 6 Pearl River.
Alex Emery broke the scoreless tie for the Wildcats in the 17th minute and the Wildcats added another in the 21st minute. With one second left in the opening half, Christopher Dommer put one through the back of the net, burying Northwest in a 3-0 deficit at halftime.
Tempers flared early in the second half for both teams, but Northwest was issued four yellow cards in a two minute span with none coming for the Wildcats. Adding insult to injury, Pearl River tacked on a fourth goal in the 47th minute and another in the 53rd minute, stretching the deficit to 5-0.
Pearl River capped off the scoring just minutes later, tacking on goals in the 61st, 63rd and 64th minutes.
With the loss, Northwest fell to 1-6 on the season and 0-3 in the MACCC, while Pearl River improved to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
