MERIDIAN - It took Northwest fighting off a fourth period comeback from Meridian, but the Lady Rangers captured their fifth straight victory on Saturday afternoon against Meridian, 66-62.
Both teams were knotted up at 13-13 after the opening period, but Northwest used a 14-6 scoring run over the span of the second quarter to earn a 27-19 halftime advantage.
Offensively, the Lady Rangers didn't miss a beat in the second half, but the Lady Eagles started to heat up. Meridian posted 16 points in the third period and outscored Northwest 27-22 in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Rangers were able to hang on for the victory.
I'Yana Ragin led all scorers with 22 points and added seven assists and six rebounds.
Tierra Trotter scored 16 points with five assists, while
Kolten Blakeney scored 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Northwest moved to 14-7 on the season and 8-4 in conference play, while Meridian dropped to 9-10 overall and 6-6 against MACCC competition.
