SENATOBIA - Following a season that saw the Northwest Mississippi Community College women's basketball team win the Region 23 Championship and qualify for the NJCAA DII Women's Basketball National Tournament, three Rangers are continuing their careers at four-year programs.
Alorian Story will continue her career as a University of Tennessee at Martin Skyhawk. In the 2025-26 season, the Skyhawks accumulated a 13-17 overall record and went 9-11 in conference play. UT Martin's season ended after a first round exit in the Ohio Valley Conference Women's Basketball Championship.
In her career at NWCC, Story averaged a double-double with 15.2 points and 11.8 rebounds a game. She will look to continue to develop her dominance in the paint during her time at UT Martin.
Next season, Dekyra Mitchell will be a member of the Alcorn State University Lady Braves women's basketball team. A member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), Alcorn State finished a 2025-26 season that saw them play five SEC opponents with a 17-14 overall record and a 14-4 conference record. The Lady Braves' season ended in the first round of the WNIT tournament.
In her sophomore year at Northwest, Mitchell led the team in scoring, averaging 16.9 points a game. Mitchell was far and away the leader in three-point shots made and attempted with 80 made and 260 attempts. She also was second on the team in steals with 76, only two behind the team leader. Mitchell will look to bring her three-point shooting ability to the Lady Braves.
