SENATOBIA – For the first time since the 2004-05 season, the Northwest Mississippi Community College women's basketball team picked up an NJCAA Division I All-American selection after sophomore Alorian Story was awarded the honor after her impressive 2025-26 campaign.
"I'm excited and extremely proud of Alorian," Head Women's Basketball Coach LaTaryl Williams said. "When we were recruiting Alorian we had conversations about her being an All-American and winning championships here at Northwest. She has been consistently good all season and her winning this award is not surprising."
The forward from Ripley, Mississippi was a dominant force for the Rangers this year on the court, averaging 16.1 points per game while dominating the boards with 13.4 rebounds per game. She was also second on the team in blocked shots with 27 and was a consistent presence at the free throw line, making 100 of them on the season and shooting 67.1 percent. That matched a field goal percentage on the season of 51 percent.
Nationally, Story was one of the top rebounders finishing fourth in the nation with her totals and she finished the season with 25 double-doubles and had a stretch in the season where she had 13 straight. She also had thirteen straight double-doubles from November 19th through February 14th.
She Story is the first NJCAA All-American for the Rangers since Mikita Taylor was named to the Third Team in 2004-05 and joins a very selective list of just eight previous players for Northwest to accomplish the feat. The other seven include Danada Smith (1999-00), Chatica Hathaway (1996-97), Rhonda 'KK' Mikes (1983-84, 84-85), LaConger Cohran (1982-83), Deborah Benson (1982-83), Mary Douglas (1981-82), and Sandra Newborn (1980-81).
It is the first All-American the Rangers have had on any list since Sara Lytle was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-American team in 2015-16.
