Foster, Horn Earn MACCC Player of the Week Honors

JACKSON - Northwest punter Shade Foster and receiver Jaycob Horn played pivotal roles in the Rangers' 38-35 comeback victory against Jones College in last Saturday's MACCC semifinal showdown. Now, both players have been recognized by the conference for their efforts.

Foster and Horn were both announced Tuesday morning as the Special Teams and Offensive players of the week by the MACCC, respectively. The accolades are the first POTW awards for both players.

Foster, a native of Pearl, logged over 200 punting yards on six attempts, racking up a new career-best 247 yards. His most notable punt was a 56-yard attempt that pinned the Bobcats on their own 1-yard line, later setting up a turnover and a score for the Rangers. It was Foster's fourth 50-yard punt this season.

On the season, Foster has booted 34 punts for 1,230 yards, averaging 36.2 yards per punt. Thirteen of his punts have landed inside the 20-yard line.

As for Horn, the Tupelo native was one of the main factors in the Rangers' comeback. The sophomore receiver and former Texas State transfer hauled in four receptions for 94 yards, highlighted by a pair of 47 and 32-yard touchdown catches in the third quarter. Both touchdowns came within a span of 58 seconds, helping Northwest rally from a 35-17 deficit to pull within 35-31.

For the season, Horn has collected 40 catches for 564 yards and four touchdowns as the Rangers' second-leading receiver. He averages 56.4 receiving yards per game and 14.1 yards per catch.

Both Foster and Horn join several Northwest teammates in earning conference Player of the Week accolades. Jykeveous Hibbler was awarded Defensive Player of the Week honors after a Week 1 victory against Mississippi Gulf Coast, while linebacker Sam Brumfield collected the same honor after the regular season finale at Northeast. Offensively, Jamarien Bracey won POTW honors following the Rangers' regular season win at East Mississippi, while quarterback Ren Hefley was voted for the same award following the Rangers' road win at Coahoma last month.

Now ranked second in the nation, Northwest will host 12th-ranked East Mississippi on Saturday at 2 P.M. for the MACCC Championship. Tickets are available now at nwccrangers.com/tickets.
