SENATOBIA - After days of anticipation, the Northwest women's soccer team has finally learned its opponent for the Region 23 Quarterfinals.
Northwest, which finished the regular season as the No. 3 overall seed in the MACCC standings, will host sixth-seeded East Central on Saturday, October 29. The match is scheduled for an 11 A.M. start time.
In a match that decided one of the final playoff slots, East Central scored with less than two minutes left on the clock to stun Itawamba, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon. The win allowed the Lady Warriors to claim the sixth seed, while ending the Lady Indians' season.
Northwest and East Central previously met on September 20 in Decatur, where both teams played to a 1-1 draw. At the time, the Lady Warriors were ranked 17th in the nation, while the Lady Rangers held a No. 10 record. Currently, ECCC holds a record of 8-6-2 overall, while Northwest is 11-1-2 on the season and ranked No. 6 in the most recent NJCAA polls.
In the all-time series between the two teams, Northwest and East Central are as even as it gets, with the record standing at 12-12-3 since the Lady Rangers began competition in 2002.Â
