JACKSON - For the second consecutive week, Northwest midfielder
Jennifer Enriquez has garnered Offensive Player of the Week honors from the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference, the league announced on Tuesday morning.
Enriquez is only a freshman, but the Las Cruces, N.M. native has taken the conference by storm in her first five career matches. In a pair of 5-2 victories against Copiah-Lincoln and Southwest Tennessee, Enriquez scored her first career hat trick with three goals against the Lady Wolves, while providing two assists against Southwest Tennessee.
For the season, Enriquez has six goals and six assists and is second only to M.J. Loeffel's eight goals in overall scoring. Her six assists are tied with teammate
Molly Rose for the third most among NJCAA Division II programs.
Prior to her arrival at Northwest, Enriquez lettered at Centennial H.S., where she led her Lady Hawks' team to an 11-1 record, an undefeated District 3 championship and the second round of the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) Class 5A playoffs as a senior. She was credited with 38 points (14 goals, 10 assists) during her senior campaign and 137 points (46 goals, 45 assists) throughout four varsity seasons.
Sitting at 5-0 overall and receiving votes in the latest NJCAA rankings, Northwest will open up North Division competition on Friday evening at No. 2 East Central. Kickoff from Decatur is slated for 5 P.M. with live game coverage available at
