SENATOBIA - As Northwest continues to roll on one of the best starts in program history, the 13th-ranked Lady Rangers continue to rack up conference player of the week accolades.
This week, it was
Maggie Olive's turn as the third-year sophomore was labeled MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
In the Lady Rangers' 2-0 shutout of Hinds last week, Olive notched seven saves to help preserve the shutout for the Northwest defensive unit. The Olive Branch native and Lewisburg High School product now has 30 saves on the season and a 6-0 record, with only four goals allowed.
Olive also continues to climb the program's record books for all-time saves and currently sits at 218 career stops, third-most in school history. She trails only Angel Hailey's total of 255 (2017-18) and Ashley Nelson's 252 (2014-15).
Additionally, Olive ranks fifth and ninth in single-season saves after posting 99 as a freshman and 89 last season. Her three shutouts in 2020 ranks third in a single-season, while her career total of seven shutouts ranks second all-time, only behind 12 from Nelson (2014-15).
Olive is the fourth Northwest women's soccer student-athlete in as many weeks to garner conference recognition. Freshman midfielder
Jennifer Enriquez won Offensive POTW honors during the first two weeks of the season, followed by
MJ Loeffel, who won last week's offensive award.
Northwest remains unbeaten at 7-0 overall and 2-0 in MACCC North Division competition, while achieving its highest national ranking in program history. The Lady Rangers will put their records on the line in Wednesday's division showdown against Itawamba, a match that is slated to begin at 1 P.M. from the Senatobia Sports Park.
