JACKSON - In just two matches, freshman midfielder
Jennifer Enriquez has cemented herself as a pivotal piece in the Northwest women's soccer starting rotation. Now, she has garnered her first MACCC Offensive Player of the Week honor, as announced by the conference on Tuesday morning.
Hailing from Las Cruces, N.M., Enriquez played a big part in the Lady Rangers' 7-0 victory against Blue Mountain College in last Tuesday's season-opener. She scored one goal and provided four assists, becoming the first player to tally four assists in a single match since Holly Newman did so in a win against Copiah-Lincoln back on October 1, 2013.
In a 3-1 victory at Meridian last Friday, Enriquez also provided a goal just before halftime off a double assist from
Ally Bailey and
Molly Rose.
Prior to her arrival at Northwest, Enriquez lettered at Centennial H.S., where she led her Lady Hawks' team to an 11-1 record, an undefeated District 3 championship and the second round of the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) Class 5A playoffs as a senior. She was credited with 38 points (14 goals, 10 assists) during her senior campaign and 137 points (46 goals, 45 assists) throughout four varsity seasons.
Northwest (2-0) will look to keep adding to the win column on Wednesday against Copiah-Lincoln. The match is slated for a 1 P.M. start and will be carried on nwccrangers.com/watch.
