Northwest Appoints Randal Pharr as Strength and Conditioning Coach

SENATOBIA - Northwest has officially announced the hiring of Randal Pharr as the college's new strength and conditioning coach, just in time for the 2021-22 athletic season.

A former student-athlete at Mississippi College, Pharr joins Northwest after a three-year stint as the assistant director of the wellness complex at Hinds Community College. During that time, he also served as the strength and conditioning coach for the Hinds baseball program, a position he began in August 2015.

"Being a strength and conditioning coach is exactly what I wanted to do after college," Pharr said. "Here, I will be able to focus and work strictly with our student-athletes and be a part of the winning culture and tradition at Northwest. It also provided the chance to bring my family back home, as I'm originally from Memphis and my wife is from Senatobia, and is a Northwest alumnus. This is a great fit for us."

Prior to his experience with Hinds, Pharr served as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant at Mississippi College from 2014-15 and was a self-employed personal trainer during that time as well. His other experience includes an internship at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson during the spring semester of 2013, where he specialized in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.

Pharr earned a Bachelor of Science in exercise science and a Master of Science in exercise physiology from MC after five seasons on the Choctaws' football team, where he caught 103 passes for 1,302 yards and 11 touchdowns. A native of Memphis, Pharr was also an All-Academic honoree by the American Southwest Conference following his junior and senior seasons.

Pharr replaces Ben Moortgat, who departed Northwest over the summer for a position at Tulane University.
