Meet the Rangers Set for August 24

SENATOBIA – Northwest Mississippi Community College will celebrate the start of the 2021 fall sports season with its annual "Meet the Rangers" event, scheduled for Tuesday, August 24 at 7 P.M.

Admission is free for the event, which will return to Ranger Stadium at Bobby Franklin Field for the first time since 2017. The event was moved indoors from the stadium in 2018 due to inclement weather and again in 2019, due to ongoing turf construction.

Members of the rodeo, volleyball, football, men's and women's soccer teams, cheerleaders, Ranger Marching Band and Rangerettes will be on hand for the evening's festivities.

This year the Ranger Band's halftime show is titled "70s Monster Hits" featuring songs from Kansas, The Knack, The Rolling Stones and Queen. Tracks include "Carry On My Wayward Son", "My Sharona", "Paint It Black", and "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Northwest men's soccer will be the first team to kick off the 2021-22 athletic season, as the Rangers and Lady Rangers host Blue Mountain on Thursday, August 19 at 1/3 P.M. The match will be held at the Senatobia Sports Park, along with all home soccer contests this season.

Northwest volleyball is slated to open its 2021 campaign against Pearl River on Friday, August 20. The match is set for a 5 P.M. start time from Howard Coliseum.

On the gridiron, the nationally-ranked and defending national champion Rangers will open against Copiah-Lincoln on Thursday, September 2 from Bobby Franklin Field. Northwest is ranked No. 1 nationally by JCGridirion.com and No. 3 overall by College Football America Yearbook, with the NJCAA polls still to be announced in the coming weeks.

Northwest will also begin the fall portion of its 2021-22 rodeo season at Missouri Valley College from Sept. 23-25.
