JACKSON - After guiding Northwest women's soccer to a 6-6 record and its first postseason appearance since 2017, head coach
James Beattie saw six of his Lady Rangers selected to the All-MACCC Team, which were announced late Friday afternoon.
Freshmen
Molly Rose and
Eliza Olive were awarded first team honors, while sophomores
Ally Bailey,
Logan Tomlinson and freshmen
Sarah Kate Burns and
Miranda Loeffel were recognized as second team selections.
Six all-conference selections is a new program record for the Lady Rangers, with four being the previous record matched over numerous seasons.
Rose, a freshman from Memphis, made an immediate impact on the Lady Rangers as the team's second leading scorer. The Houston High School product scored six goals and finished with four assists, good for a second place tie with
Katelyn Rock. She also took 34 total shots, with 20 coming on-goal for a .588 shots on goal percentage, and hit a team-best three game-winners.
Olive continued the pipeline of Lady Rangers from Lewisburg, as the freshman finished with a goal and an assist in her debut season. Her lone goal also served as the game-winner for Northwest in a 2-1 season-opening victory at Copiah-Lincoln on April 2, and she concluded the year with nine shots on-goal for a .563 SOG percentage.
As one of the team's seasoned veterans, Bailey surpassed her freshman season with a team-high seven goals and seven assists, earning her place in the program's Top 10 record books for career points (36), career goals (13) and career assists (10). Her seven assists from the spring also put her tied for fifth most in a single season.
As another reliable veteran, Tomlinson was one of several anchors for the Lady Rangers' defense this season. Despite her focus in the backfield, the Olive Branch native did earn her only goal of the season in a 2-0 victory against Hinds on May 7, moving her to three career goals.
Despite being only freshmen, Burns and Loeffel earned every day starting roles, with Burns developing into a primary defender. Loeffel spent the majority of her time on the front lines, scoring four goals and notching three assists, while connecting on the game-winner in the Lady Rangers' victory against Hinds on May 7.
Northwest will return to a traditional season this fall, with a final schedule to be announced soon.
