SENATOBIA - After helping the Northwest men's soccer program to its best finish since 2016, three Rangers have been chosen to participate in the upcoming MACCC All-Star match.
Hosted annually at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland, the match will take place on Saturday, November 13 at 2 P.M. and will feature many of the best men's players in the conference, including Northwest trioÂ
Luis Cosme,
Dereck Gomez and
Dylan Riley.
Cosme commanded the midfield in his two seasons with the Rangers, playing and starting in every match. He scored twice during his Northwest career, once at Itawamba last season and again in a 3-0 victory against Holmes in the regular season finale. The Toa Alta, P.R. native also tallied two assists this season, one in the season-opener at Meridian and again in a 2-1 overtime win against Hinds.
Joining Cosme in the midfield over the past two seasons was Gomez, who also did his part to help the Rangers to a postseason appearance this season. The Southaven native played and started in every match, earning two assists against Copiah-Lincoln and Holmes.
Riley spent three seasons with Northwest after gaining an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19. The Olive Branch native progressed every season both as a defender and an occasional scorer, earning one goal and one assist last season before earning two goals in matches against Meridian and East Central this season.
Northwest won four matches, all coming against MACCC North Division foes, to earn the program's first playoff appearance in five years.
