JACKSON – For the sixth time in program history and the first since 2017, coach
James Beattie and the Northwest women's soccer team has been presented with the Tom Shepherd Sportsmanship Award.
The award is presented annually by the MACCC to a men's and women's soccer program with the least amount of yellow/red cards during the season.
Northwest was only hit with six yellow cards in 19 matches en route to a program-best 15-3-1 overall record and the MACCC Semifinals.
The Lady Rangers previously received the Tom Shepherd Award in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2017 under former head coaches Peter Jarjoura and Levi Nunnally. Northwest has also won the award on the men's side six times, most recently under current coach
Mark Hogan in 2019.
