Lady Rangers Tabbed 13th in Latest NJCAA Rankings

CHARLOTTE - Heading into the final three matches of division competition, Northwest remains in the latest round of NJCAA Division II rankings, sliding down only one spot from 12th to 13th.

Released Monday afternoon, the recent NJCAA polls continue to highlight the Lady Rangers' historic season in just the second year for coach James Beattie. Northwest (12-2) is coming off a 1-1 split from last week, including a narrow 2-1 loss to East Central and an 8-1 rout of Dyersburg State.

Heartland (Ill.) held on to the top spot overall, followed by Jones College at No. 2 and Phoenix College, Holmes and South Suburban all checking in at slots 3-5, respectively.

Despite the win against Northwest, East Central slid behind the Lady Rangers at No. 14 overall, as ECCC suffered a loss to unranked Itawamba last Friday. The Lady Warriors are the only other MACCC program ranked behind Northwest.

Northwest will need wins against Hinds, Itawamba and Holmes to try and solidify the second-place spot from the MACCC North Division. The Lady Rangers will start the three-game stretch on Tuesday, October 19 against Hinds at 1 P.M.
