KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Although Northwest is in the midst of a historic, nationally-ranked season in 2021, the Lady Rangers are still receiving recognition for a solid year in the classroom for the 2020-21 academic year.
Northwest was one of numerous colleges across the nation to receive the United Soccer Coaches College Women's Team Academic Award, doing so for the first time since 2019 and only the fourth time in program history.Â
To qualify for the award, a team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) to be eligible. The Lady Rangers achieved a team GPA of 3.49 and were one of only four MACCC programs to win the 2021 award.
Northwest finished the spring 2021 season with a 6-6 overall record and earned its first playoff appearance since 2017. As for this year's team, the Lady Rangers have been a mainstay in the NJCAA Division II rankings, ending the regular season with a 14-2-1 overall record.
Northwest will host Meridian in the MACCC Quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 2 at 1 P.M. The match will be held on campus and be carried live on Ranger TV (nwccrangers.com/watch) and Facebook Live.
