Northwest Holds at No. 12 in Latest NJCAA Rankings

Lady Rangers Face No. 13 East Central on Tuesday

CHARLOTTE - Following a light week that featured just one match for the Northwest women's soccer program, the Lady Rangers held at No. 12 in this week's NJCAA Division II rankings, the organization announced on Monday afternoon.

Northwest defeated Southwest Mississippi, 4-1, in the Lady Rangers' lone match last week, improving to 11-1 on the season. The last time Northwest won 11 or more matches in a season came in 2017, when the Lady Rangers posted an 11-6 overall record and advanced to the MACJC Semifinals.

Heartland (Ill.) tops the national rankings as South Surbaban fell from No. 1 to No. 5, after suffering its first loss of the season. Jones College, Phoenix College and Holmes are ranked second through fourth, respectively.

East Central is the only other MACCC program ranked, as the Lady Warriors come into Tuesday's matchup in the No. 13 slot. ECCC sits at 7-3 overall, with one of its losses coming to Northwest last month.

Northwest will be aiming to make more history in what has already been a season full of milestones. In last Friday's win against Southwest Mississippi, freshman and three-time MACCC Player of the Week Jennifer Enriquez became the Lady Rangers' new single-season assists leader, earning her 16th of the season. The Las Cruces, N.M. native is now closing in on the program's all-time career assists record, needing four more to surpass the record of 19 held by Gena Gutierrez (2004-05).

MJ Loeffel leads Northwest in scoring this season with 14 goals, tied for seventh in a single season with Lindsey Young (2003). The Eads, Tenn. native also has 18 career goals, tied for eighth all-time with Anna Stennett (2003-04) and trailing the No. 7 spot in the records, currently held by Abigail Morales (2014-15) and her 19 career goals.

Third-year sophomore Ally Bailey is also hot on the record trail, as the Olive Branch native has 21 career goals and 16 assists. Bailey's 21 goals rank sixth in career scoring, while her 16 assists are good for second all-time, tying teammate Enriquez. Her 58 career points also rank fifth all-time, just ahead of Adrienne Whitson's total of 57 (2002-03).

With her goal against Southwest Mississippi last Friday, Molly Rose moved into 10th all-time in scoring with 13 goals. Her 10 career assists are tied for seventh all-time with Jennifer Addy (2006-07).

Finally, goalkeeper Maggie Olive remains locked at 232 career saves, needing just 33 more to tie Angel Hailey's record of 252 (2017-18). The Olive Branch native has 44 for the season and has a 14-13 career record since 2019.

Kickoff for Northwest and East Central is slated for 1 P.M. at the Senatobia Sports Park. The match can be seen on Ranger TV (nwccrangers.com/watch) and Facebook Live, with live stats coverage also available on nwccrangers.com.
