Northwest Drops 6-1 Decision to Southwest Mississippi

SENATOBIA - A penalty kick goal from Jesus Villegas was the lone Northwest highlight in a 6-1 loss to Southwest Mississippi on Friday afternoon.

Southwest Mississippi scored five goals in the first half, starting with one from Nahuel Cruz roughly 10 minutes in. The Bears got another from Cruz in the first half, along with one each from Jade Baartman and Franco Fasoli as well.

Kaleb Jones provided the Bears' lone score in the second half, before Villegas spoiled the shutout with his successful penalty kick against Huy Hoang.

With the loss, Northwest fell to 2-8-1 in the non-division finale. The Rangers currently sit in third place in the MACCC North Division, with a chance to create separation on Tuesday against East Central.

Kickoff of the Rangers and East Central is set for 3 P.M. at the Senatobia Sports Park.
